Essex Bowls Coaching Courses : Winter 2022/23

  • Do you want to learn to become a coach and help new and experienced bowlers?

  • Are you a EBCS level 1 coach who want to progress to level 2?

  • Have you been coaching for a while and want to update your knowledge?

If the answer is yes to any of the above then the Essex Bowls Coaching Association can help.
Last winter we organised and ran several very successful courses resulting in the county gaining over 50
new EBCS level 1 coaches and 10 new Level 2.

This winter we are planning to run the following courses:

EBCS Level 1: This course qualifies you to coach new bowlers up to a standard where they can
bowl and is the basis of your coaching career. The course runs over three days and is free of
charge except for EBCS membership and booklets.

Course Dates are: Thursday 23 Feb, Monday 27 Feb and Thursday 2 March. 10 am to 4pm at Falcon Indoor Bowling Club,  Chelmsford.

EBCS Level 2: This course is for EBCS level 1 coaches to progress to level 2 and qualifies you
to coach both developing and experienced bowlers.  Once again it’s a 3 day course and is free of charge except for EBCS membership and booklets.

Course Dates are: Saturday 4 March, Thursday 9 March and Monday 13 March. 10 am to 4pm at Falcon Indoor Bowling Club,  Chelmsford.

Coaching Update and Refresher Session

This is a great opportunity for us coaches to get together, catch up with new coaching ideas and share best practices. The session is open to all Coach Bowls and EBCS coaches both experienced and new.  This session is free of charge, the bar will be open,  so please come along.

Session date is Sunday 19th February 2023. 10am to 4pm

Markers Course: We have arranged a EBUA Markers course for Wednesday 8th February at Falcon Bowls Club. The course will run from 10am to 4pm. The cost of the course is £15.

Disability Bowls England: The Disability Bowls England team will be holding a session at Falcon Chelmsford on Saturday 3 December 2022 from 10 till 4.

This is an ideal opportunity for everyone to come along and see what aids are available and gain coaching tips for assisting both disabled and elderly bowlers. Full details will be circulated by DBE to clubs and coaches via secretaries and county and coaching web sites.  More to follow.

If you or anyone from your club is interested in attending a course, or have any queries, please contact
me, Trevor Plank, on with your full details, club, course and availability dates. On
receipt of sufficient interest, we will arrange venues and course dates.

Coach Bowls Courses can be seen on the Coach Bowls website here.  These include safeguarding courses which are recommended for all coaches.
